Looking Forward Blanket by Fifty Four Ten Studio
What is Being Made
The Looking Forward is a knitted blanket or throw designed by Fifty Four Ten Studio. This pattern offers versatility with six different size options, ranging from a Baby blanket measuring 23.5" wide by 27" long, up to an XXL blanket measuring 46" wide by 55" long. The intermediate skill level makes this project accessible to knitters with some experience who are ready to tackle more complex stitch patterns and construction techniques.
Yarn and Materials
The Looking Forward blanket pattern is designed to work with heavy worsted and worsted weight yarns. The designer used Spud & Chloe Sweater yarn in the colorway Sweet Roll #7535 for the photographed sample. The pattern notes indicate that slightly lighter or heavier weight yarns may be substituted, though using a different yarn weight may require adjustments to needle size and total yardage needed to complete the project.
Knitting Techniques and Stitches
While specific stitch abbreviations are referenced in the pattern pages, the Looking Forward blanket employs traditional knitting techniques suitable for an intermediate-level crafter. The pattern includes detailed instructions for constructing the blanket across multiple pages, with pattern notes and tips provided to guide knitters through the process. The design incorporates considerations for blocking, which is an important finishing technique for achieving the final dimensions and even appearance of the completed blanket.
