Product Description

Magic loop knitting is a way of knitting socks (or any tiny tube) with a long circular needle instead of double-pointed needles.

In this pattern you will see links to seven instructional videos that will explain each section in detail, and help get you through the tricky parts.

This pattern is for a worsted-weight anklet sock. We’re using heavier yarn and bigger needles than most knitted socks, so that you can quickly learn and work through the elements of Magic Loop sock knitting. The techniques you learn here will set you up for working with all kinds of other sock patterns.

If you'd like a look at the videos that accompany this pattern, you can see them [here][1].

Here are some reviews from my other sock knitting patterns and videos, copied from YouTube:

I've made my very first sock and used DPNS for the first time also, all thanks to you. Your videos are just fab. Thank you so much for this.

What is Being Made

This pattern teaches you how to knit a pair of worsted-weight anklet socks using the Magic Loop technique. The design is specifically created for beginners to learn sock knitting fundamentals with heavier yarn and larger needles than traditional sock patterns, allowing for faster completion and easier skill development. The finished socks are sized for ladies with average width feet.

Magic Loop Technique and Sock Knitting Fundamentals

The Magic Loop method is a circular knitting technique that uses a single long circular needle to work small circumference projects like socks. This approach eliminates the need for double-pointed needles and allows knitters to work in continuous rounds. The pattern includes seven instructional videos that provide detailed guidance through each section, helping beginners master the technique and overcome challenging transitions. Learning Magic Loop sock knitting with this pattern establishes foundational skills applicable to all other sock patterns and small circumference projects.

Stitches and Techniques Used

  • Knit (K): The fundamental stitch that forms the base fabric
  • Purl (P): Used for texture variation and pattern elements
  • Knit Two Together (K2tog): A right-leaning decrease stitch
  • Purl Two Together (P2tog): A decrease worked in purl
  • Slip, Slip, Knit (SSK): A left-leaning decrease created by slipping two stitches individually as if to knit, then knitting them together through the back loops
  • Stitch markers: Used to track pattern repeats and section boundaries during Magic Loop construction

Materials and Tools

Yarn: One hank of Cascade 220 in worsted weight provides sufficient yardage for the completed pair of socks.

Needles and Notions: A US Size 5 circular needle measuring at least 24 inches long is required; 32-inch or 40-inch lengths are recommended for easier Magic Loop manipulation. The pattern also calls for two stitch markers to track your progress and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends and finishing.

The combination of worsted-weight yarn and appropriately sized needles creates a fabric with good stitch definition while remaining beginner-friendly, making this pattern an ideal introduction to sock knitting.
