This shawl is knitted from the top down. Rotation of the garter stitch with lace and striped scallops on the edges of the shawl give some charm, Disproportional increase makes the general pattern asymmetric, but the same time the shawl itself is a half-circle. It could be smaller or larger, depends how many repeats would be made. The gauge is not crucial, yarn and needles could be chosen to the taste of the knitter. The stripes could be optional - plain solid color or variegated yarns could be used for this pattern to make a nice light shawl for cool summer evenings.
