Product Description
Our charming little blankie is just the right size for babies on the go! We love this little knitting project as it doesn't take forever to complete and doesn't need as many skeins as a "regular" sized baby blanket. We've shown it here in our soft organic merino/alpaca but were so smitten that we made it again in our washable wool (because, being mothers ourselves, we do know that not all babies are careful enough to keep their blankies spotless!) The pattern is the same for both yarns, but the size will vary slightly according to gauge. No matter - this little square is just big enough to cover up a car seat or take along in the stroller.
Materials 2 skeins Swans Island Pure Blends, 85% Organic Merino Wool/15% Alpaca; worsted weight (100gms, 250 yds each.) Color shown: Seasmoke YW221

Project Overview
The Itty Bitty Blankie is a beginner-friendly knitting project designed by Alicia Plum that creates a small, portable baby blanket perfect for travel and everyday use. This charming square blanket is sized appropriately for car seats and strollers, offering a practical alternative to full-sized baby blankets that require extensive time and yarn investment. The design has been successfully created in multiple yarn types, demonstrating its versatility across different fiber compositions.
What Is Being Made
A small square baby blanket measuring approximately 20 to 23¼ inches in width and 22½ inches in length, depending on gauge and yarn choice. This compact blankie serves as a lightweight covering suitable for infants on the go, combining functionality with portability for parents and caregivers.
Yarn and Materials
The pattern is designed to work with aran weight yarn (also called worsted weight). The featured version uses Swans Island Pure Blends, which contains 85% organic merino wool and 15% alpaca. Each skein weighs 100 grams and yields 250 yards, with the gray blanket requiring 2 skeins to complete. The pattern remains consistent across different yarn types, though finished dimensions may vary slightly based on individual gauge and yarn characteristics. Alternative yarn options include washable wool varieties, making this project adaptable for different care requirements and practical considerations for baby items.

While specific stitch patterns are not detailed in the provided content, the Itty Bitty Blankie is classified as a beginner-level knitting project, indicating that the techniques employed are accessible to knitters new to the craft.
