Then how about making him to enhance your child's enjoyment of the story.

This puppet starts out as the caterpillar, you then turn him inside out as he transforms into the beautiful butterfly.

Knitted in the round, but easily converts to knitting flat if you prefer that.

My caterpillar measures approx 13cm (5inches) and has a wing span of 16cm (a little over 6inches)

Feedback from Termite14
He was lovely and easy to knit - I cant knit in the round so I made him flat and slightly longer. I found it easier for the antennae to cast on 9 then cast them off then sewed them to top of his head they naturally curl a bit but I dont mind. I love your patterns because they are good to follow and knit out nicely. I also used 3mm instead of the bigger ones as I find toys work well with double knitting and 3mm but thats just my preference. I knitted him this morning so he didnt take long and I am chuffed with the results.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0931/3219/4170/files/5b16966523db5ab69dd430154dfc344ef7eae68d_UPID14411_17289210225399.jpg?v=1775867592
https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-eu/products/hungry-caterpillar-is-a-butterfly-knitting-pattern-by-mrsmeesemakes
