Giant toy seagull

This is Solomon C. Gull, the seagull. He's a handsome chap who measures 54cm long.

Solomon likes boats. Especially fishing boats, and can often be found looking dreamily out to sea.

He's a great knit, using lots of interesting techniques. The entire piece is knitting using garter stitch. There's lots of increasing, decreasing, casting on and casting off, when knitting the body. The wings use garter stitch intarsia, so that you can't see the join from the right side. The feet use short row shaping, and the legs are i-cords! If you're new to knitting, don't panic, he really is an all ability pattern, and I know plenty of newbie knitters who have made him. Get in touch if you get stuck (see Facebook link).

Because he's knitted using super chunky yarn, this pattern knits up quickly.

We used DROPS Eskimo yarn, but other comparable yarns may be used, i.e. Schoeller und Stahl Filzi
