Gael Socks

This is my favourite cable design, I love it and I love it so much that I have put it on a few of my designs, like the Farrimond Cardigan, Farrimond Cushion, Craic Mittens and Faremanne Cardigan. I designed these socks with snugly comfort in mind. As I was knitting them I imagined them on my feet as I snuggled down into my favourite chair, with my favourite snacks and while streaming a good series. I enjoyed the soothing stitches on my needles happy in the knowledge that when all the knitting was over I’ll have some socks to keep me at the perfect temperature. This pattern is one of eight pattern that I designed to launch especially at the Skipton Festival, Yarndale 2017 along with the Mohair Tweed which was also just launched that year (now discontinued). The yarn is spun in Donegal so I named all the patterns using Irish words, Gael (pronounced gale) is the Irish word for an Irish person or a Scottish highlander – the essence of identity.
