Product Description
A few months ago I saw a beautiful soft pink yarn at FeatherFin Yarn. Even though I didn’t know yet what I was going to knit from it, I had to have it! It’s not unusual for me to leave some yarns for a while until I feel them. The moment for “Peach” had finally come a few weeks ago and I decided to break the softness of pink with a light grey easily. So the nonchalance, which I like so much when I wear it, also came into the shawl. The lace pattern was then the highlight, which of course should not be missing in any shawl. ;-) “Feeling Peachy” should bring a little more lightness into your life with its mix of simple pattern elements!
Feeling Peachy Knitted Shawl by Rina Lehmann
What is Being Made
Feeling Peachy is a triangular knitted shawl designed by Rina Lehmann. This downloadable PDF pattern creates a lightweight, elegant wrap that combines soft pink and light grey colorwork. The shawl is designed to bring lightness and nonchalance to everyday wear, making it an ideal accessory for those seeking a delicate, sophisticated layering piece.
Construction Method
The shawl is knitted using a top-down construction, which allows knitters to easily adjust the final size by continuing to knit additional rows until reaching their desired dimensions. This method is particularly popular for triangular shawl designs as it provides flexibility and control over the finished garment.
Knitting Techniques and Stitches
This intermediate-level pattern incorporates several fundamental knitting techniques that create both structure and visual interest:
- Knitting and purling form the foundation of the stitch work
- Yarn overs create the decorative lace pattern elements that serve as the highlight of the design
- Increases and decreases shape the triangular silhouette and control the shawl's expansion
- Garter-Tap Cast-On provides the starting edge for the top-down construction
- Lace pattern work adds delicate openwork details throughout the shawl
Materials
The pattern calls for 4-ply yarn weight, which provides a lightweight fabric suitable for a shawl. The designer's inspiration piece features soft pink yarn from FeatherFin Yarn combined with light grey, though knitters may substitute their preferred colors while maintaining the same yarn weight specifications.
