Facets Hat

Textured diamonds add interest to this unisex cap, worked in rich jewel-tones. Both written and charted instructions are provided. Sample measures 18" around, 8" long; it stretches to 22 inches. For a slightly smaller hat, go down one needle size.

Skill level: Intermediate. Pattern uses Right Twist and Left Twist (brief instructions given in pattern). A cable needle is not necessary.

This pattern is easily converted to a cowl: For an 18-inch cowl, follow the pattern as written, but instead of switching to the crown decreases, work k2, p2 rib for 1.25 inches and BO. For a wider cowl, add chart repeats in increments of 16 stitches, noting that each 16-st repeat adds about 3" in width. E.g. for a 21-inch cowl, CO 112 sts (for 7 chart repeats), then follow pattern except for crown decreases.
