What is Being Made

The Diamond Hat is an adult-sized knitted beanie designed by Iman Dannan. This hat features a classic construction with a ribbed cuff and stockinette stitch body. The finished hat measures 50 cm in circumference and 28 cm in total length, making it suitable for average adult head sizes. The 5 cm ribbed section at the base provides stretch and a secure fit.

Craft and Techniques

This project is created using knitting as the primary craft. The hat is worked in the round using circular knitting needles, which allows for seamless construction and continuous circular rows. This technique eliminates the need for seaming and creates a smooth, professional finish. The design is classified as beginner-level difficulty, making it an excellent introduction to in-the-round knitting for new knitters.

Stitches Used

• Ribbed stitch: The hat begins with a 1x1 rib pattern (alternating knit and purl stitches) that extends 5 cm. This ribbed section creates elasticity and helps the hat conform to the wearer's head.
• Stockinette stitch: The main body of the hat is worked in stockinette stitch, which creates the smooth, classic V-pattern texture characteristic of knitted fabrics.

The Diamond Hat requires 1 ball of Alize Superlana MAXI yarn in grey, weighing 100 grams with 100 meters of yardage. This yarn is composed of 75% acrylic and 25% wool, providing a blend of durability, warmth, and easy care. The super chunky yarn weight allows the hat to knit up quickly, making it an efficient project for beginners.
