The alpaca /wool / nylon yarn is so ultra-soft and extremely warm you would be forgiven for thinking it might not be hardwearing. However, alpaca is a surprisingly strong fibre and the inclusion of a touch of nylon in the blend gives added strength and wearability. If you are looking for an alternative yarn, the pattern will work just as well with any DK yarn with a good twist such as West Yorkshire Spinners Aire Valley DK".
