Product Description
Dandelion Days is a lace shawlette, knit in one piece from the center-top outward. It starts out as a textured triangle knit flat and transitions to a cowl in the round. With both charts and written instructions, knitters will be able to choose their most comfortable way to follow the pattern. This is the perfect way to knit a shawl that will stay where you want it on your neck.

Dandelion Days Shawlette by Chrissy Prange
Project Overview
The Dandelion Days Shawlette is a lace shawlette designed by Chrissy Prange, offering knitters a versatile neckwear option that combines the elegance of a shawl with the practicality of a cowl. This downloadable PDF pattern presents a unique construction method that begins as a flat textured triangle and seamlessly transitions into a cowl worked in the round, ensuring the finished piece stays securely in place on the wearer's neck.
Construction and Techniques
The shawlette is knit in one piece, beginning from the center-top and working outward. This top-down construction method allows knitters to control the finished size and shape as they progress. The pattern employs lace knitting techniques throughout, creating an open, decorative fabric that showcases stitch definition. The transition from flat knitting to circular knitting represents an intermediate-level skill requirement, making this project suitable for knitters with some experience beyond basic techniques.
Pattern Format and Instructions
Recognizing that knitters have different preferences for following patterns, the Dandelion Days Shawlette is provided with both charted instructions and written instructions. This dual-format approach allows each knitter to choose the method most comfortable for their working style, whether they prefer visual stitch charts or line-by-line written directions.
Yarn and Materials
This project is designed to work with worsted, heavy worsted, and aran weight yarns, providing flexibility in yarn selection while maintaining the intended drape and appearance of the lace pattern. Knitters will require appropriate needles for their chosen yarn weight to achieve proper gauge and fabric characteristics.
Difficulty Level
Rated as an intermediate project, the Dandelion Days Shawlette requires knitters to be comfortable with lace knitting, chart reading or written pattern interpretation, and the transition between flat and circular knitting techniques.
