Crochet Techniques and Stitches
Primary Stitch: The entire pattern uses single crochet, making this an ideal intermediate project for crocheters with basic skills. The repetitive single crochet structure creates a dense, durable fabric suitable for a work coat aesthetic.
Construction Method: The pattern employs a straightforward back piece construction where the left back and right back are worked identically, with instructions to simply turn the work over for the opposite side. This symmetrical approach simplifies the building process while maintaining proper garment shaping.
Materials and Tools
Yarn: The pictured garment was crocheted using Cascade Sierra in Color #32, a yarn choice that provides the appropriate weight and texture for a structured work coat appearance.
Hook Size: A 4.5 mm crochet hook is used throughout the pattern, sized appropriately to work with the selected yarn to achieve the desired fabric density and drape.
Difficulty Level
Rated as intermediate, this pattern is accessible to crocheters with basic skills. The repetitive single crochet stitch throughout eliminates the need for complex stitch techniques, making it an excellent choice for those building confidence in garment construction while creating a meaningful matching project with a parent or loved one.
