Dacian Helmet

Requirements

• 150 g or 5.3 oz of Simli Alize Sal. I used 2 balls of this yarn and i worked with double strands of yarn.

• weight yarn: worsted, medium (4)

• hook size: 4mm (U.S. G/6) or size required to obtain gauge

• matching thread and sewing needle

• stitch markers and pins (optional)

Skill level: intermediate

US Crochet terminology used.

Gauge: 16sts and 18rows in hdc = 4inch (10cm)

Diameter of the helmet: 56cm (22inch)

This pattern is made in honor of the Dacian Helmet, which is part of the Romanian treasury. The original helmet, made of gold, copper and silver, dates to the first half of the 5th century BC. The helmet currently disappeared this year (2025) from a museum in the Netherlands.
