The Coel Snood is a seamless cowl designed to wrap around the head, created from a custom commission for a W magazine shoot. This one-size accessory measures 18cm in width and 45cm in length, making it a versatile neckwear piece suitable for various styling occasions. The snood combines functionality with elegant construction, offering a sophisticated alternative to traditional scarves or cowls.

Knitting Techniques

This pattern showcases advanced shaping techniques that create a seamless, professionally finished garment. The primary construction method uses German short rows, a sophisticated technique that builds three-dimensional shaping without requiring seaming. German short rows work by wrapping stitches at turning points, allowing the knitter to add depth and contour to the fabric while maintaining a continuous, unbroken surface. This technique is particularly effective for creating fitted neckwear that drapes elegantly around the head and shoulders.

Needles required include one set of 4mm (US 6) circular knitting needles measuring 40cm (16 inches), which accommodates the in-the-round construction. A large-eyed sewing needle is needed for finishing and weaving in ends.
