Techniques Used

This beginner-friendly knitting project employs cable knitting as its primary technique. Cable knitting involves crossing groups of stitches over one another to create the distinctive twisted, rope-like patterns that give the headband its "wow factor" and dimensional appearance. The pattern uses a repeating 16-row sequence that creates the wave-like cable effect throughout the length of the headband. The straightforward construction makes this an excellent introduction to cable work for knitters new to the technique.

Stitches Used

• Knit (K) - The fundamental stitch that forms the base of the fabric
• Purl (P) - Used to create texture and contrast within the pattern
• C6F (Cable 6 Front) - Slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the front of the work, knit the next 3 stitches from the main needle, then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle to create a cable twist

To complete the Cable Waves Headband, you will need 6mm straight needles, a cable needle, and approximately 60 grams of chunky weight yarn. The tension gauge is 8 stitches and 8 rows over 5cm, and the pattern begins with casting on 22 stitches.
