Byatt

Byatt is an asymmetrical shawl inspired by the English novelist A.S. Byatt and is the first pattern in my 2015 series Authors & Artists.

Most of the shawl is knitted in garter stitch and it uses two skeins of hand-dyed 4ply sock yarn. You never work more than one colour at any time, as the braided effect is obtained using a slip-stitch pattern. Byatt is finished off with a lacy edge in the contrast colour and a picot cast-off.

Byatt is designed to use every inch of that gorgeous hand-dyed yarn, so please take time to check your gauge. The pattern includes a section of how to modify the size of the shawl.

The pattern is both charted and has written instructions. It is fully tech-edited, contains clear photos, and a schematic.
