What is Being Made

Buccaneer is a knitted shawl featuring an arrow-like construction design. The finished shawl measures approximately 195cm (78 inches) wide along the top edge and 70cm (28 inches) in height. This one-size design creates a substantial triangular or crescent-shaped wrap suitable for layering or wearing as a statement accessory.

Techniques Used

The shawl employs an unusual arrow-like construction method that distinguishes it from traditional shawl patterns. The body is initially shaped using increases worked in every row, creating the expanding form characteristic of this design. A central decrease on the right side (RS) helps define the arrow motif and directional shaping. The garter stitch edge is worked flat using larger needles, which creates a distinctive textured border. The construction technique requires careful attention to stitch placement to achieve the intended arrow-like silhouette.

Materials and Yarn Specifications

Variations in gauge will affect the finished dimensions and required yardage, so crafters should be prepared to adjust yarn quantities if working at a different gauge than specified.
