Bird Cherry cowl

This cowl is born out of curiosity about bias knitting. It also serves as a almost fully reversible cowl for my daughters - as kids do not much care about right and wrong side, I wanted to create something that would be easily wearable. It has Mebius loop form and its length is easily adjustable.

Construction

The double cowl has a Mebius loop shape, starting from one corner and shaping it with increases. After necessary width is reached, increases on one side are continued and on the other side increases are replaced with decreases, shaping the cowl. The main part is worked in garter stitch with i-cord edges. In two places classic Shetland diamond lace insertions are made. After the full length is reached on the longer side, the second corner is shaped with decreases on both sides. After knitting is completed, the cowl is connected in the Mebus loop by sewing short sides together.
