Customers say Berroco Ultra Alpaca is one of their favourite yarns to knit and crochet with. It feels soft and squishy in the hands, and reviewers describe working with it as a real pleasure, with a luscious feel that makes an evening at the needles or hook something to look forward to.
The colour range is one of the most talked-about things about it. Buyers describe the shades as gorgeous and saturated, with jewel tones and heathered melanges that give finished pieces depth and subtle shading.
Reviewers describe the yarn as easy to knit and easy to crochet with, and many say it knits up beautifully, with stitches that sit neatly on the needles.
Customers say the stitch definition is clear, so cables and textured patterns show up nicely in the finished fabric. One reviewer noted that a pattern showed up nicely in their sweater, and another said it produces a beautiful cable pattern.
Several reviewers report that their finished projects washed well and kept their shape. One crocheter blocked and washed a large blanket on a gentle cycle and said the slight shrinkage left the fabric a little thicker and richer, just as hoped.
Buyers say it suits a wide range of projects. Reviewers mention crocheted hats and beanies, a gorgeous blanket built from many colours, and sweaters. Several say it is a go-to choice when making a gift for someone.
For knitters who love aran-weight work, one reviewer summed it up simply: beautiful, soft yarn that knits with great definition and suits Aran or pattern stitches.
One reviewer who was new to alpaca found the feel of the fibre a delight and noted that it was easy to knit with.

Beautiful color and squishy feel. Knitting up neatly with clean stitch definition and a little bit of halo.
Berrocco Ulta Alpaca is one of my favorite yarns. It is luscious to crochet with. I recently completed a complex blanket (from The Floral Hook), using alot of different colors. When finished I blocked it, then washed it on gentle in my washing machine, placed it back on the blocking matts and dried it. It did shrink a little, just as I hoped. The colors are gorgeous, the slight shrinking just right to make it a bit thicker and richer. It will become a wall hanging as soon as I have the gumption...
Lovely yarn and when I balled it up there was not one knot. I was impressed.
One of my favorite yarns. Great saturated colors very soft and washes well. I have made several crocheted hats and a gorgeous blanket.
Love working with this yarn. One of my favorite.
Lovely wool, knits up well. A little on the expensive side but worth it.
First time using Alpaca and I really liked the feel of the material. Easy to knit with and I was able to make a beanie out of one skein with some left over!
Gorgeous heather color mix very soft
