Customers say Berroco Ultra Alpaca is one of their favourite yarns to knit and crochet with. It feels soft and squishy in the hands, and reviewers describe working with it as a real pleasure, with a luscious feel that makes an evening at the needles or hook something to look forward to.
The colour range is one of the most talked-about things about it. Buyers describe the shades as gorgeous and saturated, with jewel tones and heathered melanges that give finished pieces depth and subtle shading.
Reviewers describe the yarn as easy to knit and easy to crochet with, and many say it knits up beautifully, with stitches that sit neatly on the needles.
Customers say the stitch definition is clear, so cables and textured patterns show up nicely in the finished fabric. One reviewer noted that a pattern showed up nicely in their sweater, and another said it produces a beautiful cable pattern.
Several reviewers report that their finished projects washed well and kept their shape. One crocheter blocked and washed a large blanket on a gentle cycle and said the slight shrinkage left the fabric a little thicker and richer, just as hoped.
Buyers say it suits a wide range of projects. Reviewers mention crocheted hats and beanies, a gorgeous blanket built from many colours, and sweaters. Several say it is a go-to choice when making a gift for someone.
For knitters who love aran-weight work, one reviewer summed it up simply: beautiful, soft yarn that knits with great definition and suits Aran or pattern stitches.
One reviewer who was new to alpaca found the feel of the fibre a delight and noted that it was easy to knit with.

Just divine!! soft with a gentle haze that still allows stitch definition to show, my first purchase from Berroco not cheap but worth every penny!
I loved the weight, saturation of color, softness and price. They made two beautiful cowls for my winter coats.
I have purchased several Berroco lines of product. None have disappointed. Quality is good. When you purchase a hank of yarn, there is very seldom any knotted joins. (Can't say that about other lines.) This is my go to yarn when I want to make a gift for someone.
This is a very nice wool that I have used several times, and I just keep coming back to it. It's extremely soft and holds up well to constant use. I've made lots of accessories and even a soft toy with this wool.
Berrocco Ulta Alpaca is one of my favorite yarns. It is luscious to crochet with. I recently completed a complex blanket (from The Floral Hook), using alot of different colors. When finished I blocked it, then washed it on gentle in my washing machine, placed it back on the blocking matts and dried it. It did shrink a little, just as I hoped. The colors are gorgeous, the slight shrinking just right to make it a bit thicker and richer. It will become a wall hanging as soon as I have the gumption...
Fabulous yarn - beautiful color and hand. I could not be more delighted with how it is working up. Would recommend without qualification.
Just finished a sweater in two shades of this yarn. Loved working with the yarn and the look of the finished product.
Beautiful yarn. Made winter beanies and scarves. Drapes well soft not scratchy
This is absolutely beautiful to knit with. Gorgeous colour, very soft and very warm. Hat knitted is lovely to wear.
Knitted up beautifully - used it for an Isabell Kramer pattern il grande favorito.
