Product Description

Download includes both right and left-handed charts and written instructions of c2c pattern.

After designing a panda stroller blanket for a friend, I loved it so much I wanted to do other animals too, mostly neutral to make nursery and child’s room decorating easy. I don’t know what it is about raccoons, but they are just the cutest. So it had to be. Ever mischievous, yet cuddly, just like small children, its a perfect match!

Not intended for night or other unsupervised sleep. **make with meggie does not support using blankets on an unsupervised sleeping child under the age of two**

Bandit Raccoon Stroller Blanket Crochet Pattern

What is Being Made

The Bandit stroller blanket is a charming crochet blanket featuring a raccoon design, created by designer Meggie of make with meggie. This blanket is specifically designed for stroller use and nursery decoration, offering a neutral aesthetic that complements various child's room styles. The pattern draws inspiration from a previously designed panda stroller blanket, extending the concept to feature other adorable animals. The raccoon motif captures the playful and mischievous nature of the animal, making it an ideal match for small children's spaces. Important safety note: This blanket is not intended for night or unsupervised sleep, and make with meggie does not support using blankets on unsupervised sleeping children under the age of two.

Crochet Techniques Used

This project employs the corner-to-corner (c2c) crochet technique, a popular method for creating graphical designs and images in crochet work. The c2c technique allows crafters to follow a pixel-based pattern, building the blanket diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner. This approach is particularly effective for creating detailed animal designs like the raccoon featured in this pattern, as it enables precise color changes and pattern definition throughout the project.

Stitches and Construction

While specific stitch details are referenced in the pattern structure, the corner-to-corner method primarily utilizes basic crochet stitches adapted for graphical work. The c2c technique creates a structured, grid-like fabric that translates digital patterns into tangible crochet designs. This method requires attention to color changes and stitch placement to accurately render the raccoon design across the blanket's surface.

Materials and Yarn Weight

The Bandit stroller blanket is designed using chunky yarn weight, which allows for faster project completion and creates a substantial, cozy finished blanket suitable for stroller use. Chunky yarn works well with the c2c technique, producing a blanket with good drape and warmth while maintaining clear stitch definition for the raccoon design. A crochet hook appropriate for chunky yarn weight is required to complete this project.

Difficulty Level

This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with some experience beyond basic skills. The intermediate level accounts for the complexity of following a graphical c2c pattern with multiple color changes while maintaining consistent tension and stitch accuracy. Crafters should be comfortable with reading charts and executing color transitions to successfully complete this raccoon-themed blanket.

The Bandit stroller blanket pattern is available as a downloadable PDF from designer Meggie Oxley.
