The whirly-pod and goggles are made in separate pieces and then sewn together during assembly. The hat is made in continuous spiral rounds followed by short rows. A forward loop chain (flch) method is used to create the goggle straps. However, if you're not comfortable with this method a regular chain will work perfectly well! I enjoy using the flch because it creates a square shaped ch similar to an i-cord.
