Product Description

Aria is a fun tunic worked in stocking stitch in the round. It has a cute pocket and rib accents at neck and armholes.

There are multiple sizes which make it a long lasting versatile garment that can be worn in autumn, winter and spring.

When it comes to the armholes I have suggested you use DPNs, but please use your favourite method of working small circumferences in the round.

If you search “magic loop” or “2 circulars” on www.youtube.com you will find a variety of excellent video tutorials.

I have include a photo tutorial illustrating my way of casting on provisionally.

What is Being Made

Difficulty Level and Craft

This is an intermediate-level knitting pattern designed for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex construction techniques and shaping methods.

Sizing Information

The pattern is graded across seven sizes for children:

  • Size 2 years: Actual chest 50.5 cm (20 inches)
  • Size 3 years: Actual chest 55 cm (21.5 inches)
  • Size 4 years: Actual chest 57.5 cm (22.5 inches)
  • Size 5 years: Actual chest 60 cm (23.5 inches)
  • Size 6 years: Actual chest 62.5 cm (24.5 inches)
  • Size 8 years: Actual chest 66.5 cm (26 inches)
  • Size 10 years: Actual chest 70 cm (27.5 inches)

Stitches and Techniques Used

A r i a employs several fundamental and intermediate knitting techniques:

  • Garter stitch — created by knitting every row, providing a textured, reversible fabric
  • Knit and purl stitches — the foundation of all knitted fabric in this design
  • Increases — including the kf&b (knit front and back) method, which creates a new stitch by knitting into both the front and back loops of a single stitch
  • Decreases — such as k2tog (knit two together), which combines two stitches into one for shaping
  • 3-needle bind off — an advanced finishing technique used to join two sets of stitches together. This method involves arranging stitches on two needles with right sides together, then using a third needle to knit corresponding stitches from both needles together before casting them off, creating a strong seamed edge
  • Cast off (bind off) — finished using both knitwise and purlwise methods depending on stitch orientation

Yarn Weight and Materials

A r i a is designed to be worked in DK weight yarn, a versatile medium weight that creates fabric with good drape and stitch definition suitable for children's garments. The pattern requires standard knitting needles appropriate for DK yarn, as well as basic finishing tools for seaming and weaving in ends.

Pattern Format

This design is provided as a downloadable PDF, making it immediately accessible for digital reference while knitting. The pattern includes comprehensive abbreviations and technique explanations to support knitters working through the construction process.
