Aran & Worsted Weight Yarn

Aran wool and worsted weight yarns are often interchangeable, but actually different weights. Worsted weight yarn is finer and knits on 4.5mm needles, and aran yarn is knitted on 5mm needles. Aran wool is sometimes known as heavy worsted weight or 10ply, too. If you love a speedy knit or crochet make, aran and worsted weights bring all the drape of a finer yarn but work up faster than their lightweight cousins.
