This was my first yoke/fairisle sweater, I had been thinking about it for a few weeks before starting and was having a bit of trouble finding an appropriate yarn. The Rowan Island Blend Fine then went on offer - I think it’s now discontinued - and it seemed to be the right gauge, but of course it wasn’t. The finished sweater was large and the armpits came down to my waist! I had spent so much time on this I really didn’t want to frog it so eventually decided to shrink it. A wool wash at 40’ and some careful positioning whilst drying seems to have worked and I’m now pleased with the result. The pattern is lovely and easy to work with, the yarn is a delight, so soft on the skin but sadly it didn’t work for this project. My fault entirely.

It looks brilliant Karen, especially for a first fairisle jumper. Well done on getting it to fit like that. I find it really difficult judging whether something is going to fit me or not.

I agree, it's tricky substituting yarn isn't it? I think the finished result is great, well done!
