My mom is stylish, very active and her favorite color is purple. I think she will really love this tunic top. I had some struggles getting started. The yarn I chose didn't swatch out well with the recommended needle size or the next two sizes bigger. At the recommendation of the owner of a local yarn shop, I ended up figuring out my stitches per inch and choosing a garment size whose stitch count matched my swatch. I think it turned out fairly well size-wise. My other struggle was with the edging. The pattern uses an I-cord edge or a picot edge. I'm not a fan of picot but when I did an I-cord around the arms, it pulled them much too tight to where I could barely get an arm through. I had to experiment quite a bit with needle sizes and tension as I knit before I found a method that worked. I still ended up with a curl to the edges that I'm not a fan of but that I'm trying to fix with blocking.
