The yarn I recommend using is a 2-3mm macrame cotton cord. When I made my first one, I did it in acrylic yarn. Within a few weeks, it had a VERY saggy bottom. I cut off the clasp and redid it with twisted cotton cord, which has worked a treat. The purple purse in the pictures is my personal one. I have been using it for over a year now and it still looks great.
