I used Hometown USA super bulky yarn, but any bulky yarn would work.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor the Hometown USA yarn, I used less than one skein of each color (~50 yards blue and ~40 yards red).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIf you are new to cabling, make sure to keep the cabled rows loose so that the hat maintains some stretch and will fit.
