The Mermaid Notebook Cover was my first official knitting pattern. Created as part of a competition held by Cygnet Yarns, the brief was to come up with something that could be knitted in one 100g ball of their Utopia DK yarn. And so, this pattern came into being. That was February 2018, and despite me promising myself that I would keep creating patterns, it was another 6 years before I did so. I was tagged in a makers Mermaid Notebook Cover on Instagram in August 2024, and it was the push I needed to get going.
This pattern can be adapted to fit any size notebook, with instructions on how to use your gauge swatch to do so included in the pattern.

This pattern is knitted flat in one piece, and then the ends are folded over and sewn to create flaps to hold your notebook securely. An I-cord is made to use as a bookmark, with a tassel shaped like a mermaids fin.
