Your Introduction to the Double Knitting Technique
Have you ever wanted to try the double knitting technique? This technique enables you to knit a double sided fabric featuring a simple motif, using two colours. One side is the inverse of the other. It is perfect where both side of the fabric matter such as scarves and blankets. It is also super cosy and works really well for home accessories such as tea cosies as it already has a built in lining. Using the double knitting technique makes simple two colour motifs easy to create and unlike intarsia there are no dangling bobbins to get tangled and no ends to sew in!
This pdf tutorial will show you the basics: how to cast on and off, and how to work the technique in two colours to create a sample (the heart sample shown in the photographs), working from a knitting chart. The written instructions are illustrated with colour photographs, and you are also given access to 4 online video demonstrations (on Vimeo) to accompany the text. Please note that photographs and videos are right handed.
