This is my favorite basic hat. It needs a little attention for details as the folded part of the brim is worked inversely but it is both stretchy and good for showing off variegated yarn - the perfect wardrobe complement. The hat is crocheted entirely in slip stitches in a wide ridge pattern. It is worked sideways, with short rows shaping the crown.
The pattern includes written instructions and an extensive technique section, with step-by-step photo tutorials for * front loop only slip stitch (F) * back loop only slip stitch (B) * inverse front loop only slip stitch (iF) * inverse back loop only slip stitch (iB) * short rows * invisible seam in back loop only ribbing * invisible seam in inverse front loop only ribbing
