In my country, Australia, summers are HOT! You can forget about wearing short sleeve wool tops - cooler fibers are required! Linen is a beautiful, drapey fibre that is cool and looks stylish at any time of the day. Hence, for The Coolah Top, I have chosen a lace weight linen to create a top you would be comfortable in at all times of the day.
The top is worked in garter stitch from the bottom up and in the round to the armholes. The body is shaped so that it is wider over the hips, decreasing slightly to the waist. The front and back are then separated and worked separately back and forward to the shoulders. After shaping, the shoulders are joined using the three needle bind off.
The lace panel is very simple, with the lace worked on the Right Side only. Accordingly, this garment is suitable for an adventurous beginner.
