I love the idea of a blanket made with squares, but when I have to work away the yarn ends, I lose my love for it!
This pattern creates the effect of squares, but the body of the blanket is crocheted in one piece. When you make the vertical stripes, your yarn ends become the tassels that complete the look. The beautiful tartan (or plaid) pattern it creates is also reversible, so your blanket looks beautiful on both sides.
What I like even more, is the fun colour combinations you can create with this pattern. Yellow/grey, or red/navy/white are good choices for the man in your life.
