Simnia Cardigan

The Simnia Cardigan is a traditional yoke-style cardigan featuring a distinctive flared skirt with shell-inspired patterning. This seamless, top-down construction creates a polished, professional finish without the need for seaming. The design accommodates multiple sizes, ranging from newborn (0-3 months, 40.5 cm chest) through 6-12 months (51 cm chest), with approximate yarn requirements varying from 295 to 455 meters depending on size.

Construction and Techniques

The Simnia Cardigan employs several advanced knitting techniques suitable for intermediate crafters:

• Top-down seamless construction: The cardigan is worked from the neckband downward in a single piece, eliminating the need for seaming and creating a smooth, continuous garment
• Flat and circular knitting: The yoke and upper body are worked flat in rows from the neckband to the sleeve separation point, then transitioned to circular needles or double-pointed needles (DPNs) for seamless sleeve completion
