I’d seen filet crochet motifs online and in books, but never understood what they were for. I then stumbled upon a pattern for a shawl using small heart motifs. Once I understood how to work a filet crochet pattern, I was eager to design something myself. Romani expresses my love of symmetry and geometric shapes. It was so exciting seeing the motifs coming together, looking exactly as I had envisioned them. Filet crochet is a great way for beginners to become familiar with crochet, it also gives you an opportunity to design you own pattern. All you need is a sheet of squared paper or a spread sheet template and away you go.
