Petronela is a shawl that will keep you warm and cozy in winter months and if you decide to knit it in a vivid colour - it will also brighten up gloomy days.
You can knit it as a separate item or make a set with a matching hat and mittens or fingerless mitts.
The shawl is easy to knit if you know some basic lace stitches – increasing, decreasing and yarnovers. It is also fun to knit, a perfect combination of needing to pay attention and mindless knitting.
Yarn – Any ranging from fingering to DK. I used 330g / 900m / 985 yards of Lithuanian Vernitas (DK, 50g = 133m / 145 yards) on US 6 / 4mm needles.
Gauge is not crucial and depends on the yarn and needles you choose to knit with, my gauge was 17 sts x 20 rows = 10x10cm / 4x4 inches.
The pattern could be customized by using different yarns, needle sizes, or adding repeats to the pattern in both length and width.
