This blanket was designed for my niece. She loves PURPLE. Not mauve, or lavender, but full blow, full intensity purple.
I have frequently wondered why crib blankets are not in punchy colours. I get it for newborns because they have not had a chance to show their personality yet, but I can attest to the fact - 2 plus years and kids develop pretty strong opinions. Kids love colour in a way that is not filtered, or wrapped up in style. I wanted to honor that love with something just for her.
This blanket uses yarns that are equal in the intensity of their hugh, but after that it is really what you choose to mix together. I used sock yarn to insure sofness, and durability. It can be washed, which my sister in law says makes it usable and lovely for both of the kids. It is unappologetic, and unabashed like its namesake. I hope you enjoy knitting something in brilliant colour.

- I used sock yarn because it is washable and durable but any merino fingering weight will work. My sister in law appreciated washability. Enjoy!
