I've named this cowl and beanie set after my paternal grandmother Lou . She inspired me with her love , storytelling and knitting . The beanie is slouchy and knitted in the round . You may use DPNS if you prefer . The cowl is knitted on straight needles or you can knit backwards and forwards on cable circulars which are great for a long piece like this .
Wear the cowl loose or doubled over - under your jacket or over a sweater or shirt . The Debbie Bliss Merion knits up quickly and the colour is excellent .
Hat measures 25 cm from crown to end of ribbed band and 58 cm unstretched .
