Cable patterns are great for keeping your head warm in Scottish weather! They create a thick, dense fabric to protect you from the cold, and make your hands feel warm and cosy. The cable patterns of this hat are inspired by traditional Scottish knitting, and by the patterns carved on stone crosses and cross slabs in Iona and all over Scotland.
The brim is worked sideways, then the body and crown are knitted bottom up.
