I liked the colour. It was recommended in Nikki Trench's Basics for Crocheting. I am using it for a basic jumper for my daughter. I used Malabrigos Rio for the same jumper for my other daughter. It was a lot softer to the touch, but since the Debbie Bliss Donegal Aran is half the price, I am not complaining.
Nice wool, good range of tweedy colours but I wouldn’t say this is Aran weight. It knits up as a double knit weight with slightly smaller needles than suggested and with the suggested needles it is very loose in the knitted swatch even though my tension is average - not loose or tight. So I only bought enough to test a swatch and will make a scarf or something small but disappointed that I can’t make the sweater I was wanting to knit which calls for proper Aran weight yarn. Wonderful yarn, creates beautiful garments. Perhaps not for beginner knitters because it can be a bit hard on the fingers and breaks easily. The yarn blooms a lot after washing. I knitted a hat from a previous purchase and I get many compliments. This time I will make a hat for my husband too.
This is lovely wool, and knits up beautifully. The texture is very nice - the thickness of the yarn is variable, which is disconcerting at first, but looks good once it's knitted. The colour (I chose the dark navy called Midnight) is particularly attractive, and the tweed effect perfect. The yarn feels rough but somehow knits up soft. My only reservation is that the yarn comes in 50gm hanks, which you have to rewind into a ball. I think this would be very difficult if you don't have someone to...
It’s nice to knit with. I made double moss stitch headbands with it. It held its pattern/texture and shape. Will buy it again 😁
An excellent example of beautiful Donegal tweed! Although the tweed bits aren’t very visible but the quality is lovely. I started making some mittens but have since sprained my left wrist so I won’t be finishing them for a few weeks yet.
Lovely yarn, I bought the red one and it is a nice rich shade of red, the colours of nepp are good too, it is the best ‘tweed’ affect yarn I have knitted with. It is a bit rough to work with, but the end result is lovely. Delivery was nice and quick also. Well packaged. Happy customer😊
Easy to knit, great quality yarn. Colour as depicted on the website. I was in touch with the customer service to clarify if I needed to pay customs and VAT upon arrival and everything was, fortunately, taken care of at checkout.
This wool comes in a very nice range of colours. I chose the dark grey and like it. I bought it without feeling the texture and found it a bit lacking in softness at first. However it fluffs up a little after washing and is fine. It washes well.
