Boston Velvet Hat

The Boston Velvet hat falls in the hipster category of hats. This is the perfect hat to wear on the ski slope, out for a day of sledding, or just to keep your head warm when the chill it just too much. It is such a soft and warm hat. Use a button to secure the pom so that you can easily remove it when you wash the hat. Nobody wants a messy pom, and this technique will help you keep it nice, neat and fluffy! Make one for the guys. Crochet it in a dark color and leave off the Mop Pom and the guys will love it! There are many different velvet yarns to choose from, but one of my favorites is Bernat's Velvet Yarn. You can find it at Yarnspirations. There are 20 shades to choose from. It is a 5 chunky gauge and it is recommended that you hand wash your items to keep the yarn looking fresh and new. It is 100% polyester and each ball size is 300g / 10.5 oz, 288 meters / 315 yards I feel this is a beginner friendly hat, if you have a working knowledge of Front Post and Back Post stitches.
