This yarn had been in my stash for years waiting for the right project. Even though the pattern prototype was a single color, I saw the potential to make the rows of puffs stand out with a single color using this yarn and just went for it. The yarn has long color runs and gradual fades, so as I crocheted each half-row of puffs, I kept an eye on the color and did a fair amount of cuttting and re-joining to make each row fade in a way I could match in the next row to complete the petals. One suggestion I'd make is that instead of making the puffs as instructed, make them with three "pull ups" instead of four. It takes 25% less yarn, looks just as good and would make the sweater physically lighter. I started to run out of yarn when I got to the sleeves so used this technique to eek out enough to finish, and as you can see, the sleeves are indistinguishable from the body.
