I generally followed the pattern but changed some rows to make the pattern less open. I also made the back a simple spiral pattern. The addition of a plastic canvas edge and a lining made the bag more sturdy. Iron-on foam interfacing, in the lining gave the bag a better shape. I used a purchased strap because it is more durable for daily use. Once I have used the bag for a while and perfected the pattern and lining I will make some more for my friends.
