"I made this for my sister-in-law"

I've read that one of the challenges for people with Alzheimer's or dementia is what to do with their hands. I understand that completely because I can't sit without doing something with my hands. That's why I knit so much. A Twiddle Mat has things on it to manipulate and lots of different textures to feel. I cast on 44 stitches and knit for about 22 inches. Run yarn of a different color to divide the piece in half. Put your Twiddle things in the lower half. Fold in half and sew up the three sides. Measures about 11x11. Used worsted weight yarn.
