Crop Top Number 2
I had previously made one for my daughter but with not using the correct wool the size turned out wrong. Plus the back wouldn't sit right. I decided to try this pattern again, ordered the correct wool from the same website as the pattern was on, as you can see the wool ended up being a different colour than the picture even though it was the correct colour ordered AND the back didn't seem to sit right again ! It's as if the border is too tight and the plain too loose. I thought the only way of doing it would be to knit the border separately and sew it on when finished 🤷‍♀️ Using bigger needles for only the 5 stitches would pull on the stitches when I'm knitting the plain stitches. I'm open to suggestions on how to do this section...💝 https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/cool-cropped-top-free-top-knitting-pattern-for-women-in-paintbox-yarns-metallic-dk Update...my daughter came home from abroad and tried it on and as you can see in the 2 pictures I put up the border stretched and fit !

Such a shame! 😕 Could you try slipping the edge stitch purlwise every other row?

What a shame the it didn’t go well even with the right yarn. And the colour difference is quite marked. I guess the colour in the pattern must be toned down? I made this for my granddaughter in the ‘wrong’ yarn and she was between two sizes so there was a lot of adjusting of stitches and frogging bits and trying again. It looks so good in the pattern. She seemed happy with it anyway, but not sure she’s worn it! I’m Has your daughter tried it on? The border does stretch when it’s worn if it’s a snug fit, but I think you’re right about the difference in tension between the stocking stitch and the border.
